Eight persons arrested in Guwahati for breaking lockdown orders

Guwahati/IBNS: Guwahati city police arrested eight people for violating lockdown orders in the capital city of Assam.

Guwahati city Police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta said eight people have been arrested so far for violating the lockdown orders so far.

Guwahati city police registered four cases at different police stations in last 48 hours.

“We have taken all measures to follow the lockdown orders and we will take action against those who violate the orders,” the top cop said.

On Thursday evening, police arrested two persons while they allegedly misbehaved with police and pelted stones towards the police personnel at Hatigaon area in the city.

According to the reports, while the police team of Hatigaon police station was executing COVID-19 lock down duty at Shah Nagar area, some people were seen loitering on the road and when the police party asked them to stay inside their houses, two persons misbehaved the police team and also pelted stones.

Later, police had arrested two persons identified as Noor Alom and his wife Ashima Begum and registered a case (no – 188/2020) under Section 269/270/336/353 IPC against them at Hatigaon police station.
