DoNER minister announced Rs 200 cr package for Assam

Guwahati, May 27 (IBNS) : Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Jitendra Singh on Wednesday announced a Rs 200 crore Package for Assam.

During a press conference held at Guwahati, the Minister stated that the projects are mostly related to water supply schemes and roadways in the state.

Highlighting the uniqueness of these projects, the Minister said that these projects are specifically formulated keeping in mind the needs
of the state.

The Union Minister also announced a Rs. 125 Crore Package for entire North East region to develop organic farming, starting with cardamom and few variety of fruits.

“The project is shaped on ANAND Cooperative pattern and detailed project report has already been sent to various ministries for their suggestions. The Union Ministry is formulating a ‘Make in North East’ model in line with the ‘Make in India’ initiative so as to promote the Act East policy of the Union Government,” Jitendra Singh said.

“In order to bring the ministry closer to people, firstly, we have come up with a scheme called DoNER at Doorstep, wherein DoNER officials will visit the North Eastern states and secondly, a roster is developed wherein around eight ministers will travel to North East every fortnight to have an assessment and feedback of state’s plans and policies,” the Minister said.

The Minister also stated that the matter of upgradation of Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International airport was taken up by the Chief Minister of Assam and the ministry is committed to take up the matter with the Union Civil Aviation Ministry along with upgradation of airports of other North Eastern states, so as to improveintra-regional connectivity.
