Delhi man who pointed gun at cop during violence arrested from UP

Lucknow/IBNS: Mohammed Shahrukh, whose videos and images of brandishing gun before a policeman during Delhi violence went viral, has been arrested from Shamli district of western Uttar Pradesh, reports said.

According to reports, 33-year-old Md. Shahrukh went absconding since Delhi Police had started carrying out raids to nab him.

Earlier on Feb 24 (Monday), when a communal violence over Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was at its peak in parts of North East Delhi, Md. Shahrukh, a resident of Delhi's Saleempur area, was seen pointing a gun at an unarmed police personnel who was deployed to bring the situation under control at Jaffrabad-Maujpur area.

Besides threatening the cop, Shahrukh, who wore maroon T-shirt that time, reportedly fired at least eight round of bullets from his gun.

Sources in Delhi Police said that Shahurkh did not have any previous criminal records though his father is out on bail on drug trafficking charges.

A senior Delhi Police official of said that they will brief the media later on Tuesday on details of the arrest of Shahrukh.
