CRPF jawan injured in encounter with Maoists in Jharkhand

Bokaro/UNI: In an encounter between the CRPF and the ultras belonging to CPI Maoists, a jawan of the CRPF was injured in Rajderwa forest located under Chatrochatti Police Station area of Gomia block of this district.

The injured jawan has been identified as Subodh Kumar.

Police said they received a tip off that a squad led by Maoist commander Mithlesh Singh alias Durvodhan Mahto was camping in the area, after which a search operation was launched led by Koylanchal DIG Prabhat Kumar and Bokaro SP P Murugan.

The security forces retaliated after ultras opened fire on seeing the policemen.

Sources said a gun battle ensued which lasted for about an hour, after which the Maoists escaped into the deeper reaches of the forest.

Search and combing operations were going on in the area after the clash.
