New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Food and Civil supplies minister Imran Hussain on Monday directed concerned officers to depute teams in all markets in the national capital to crack down on complaints of hoarding and over-charging of hand sanitizers, masks and other essential items crucial for Coronavirus prevention.

In a review meeting with the officials, the Minister directed them to take immediate action against those who are taking undue advantage of the crisis and selling essential items at inflated prices.

Chemists, dealers, retailers and others who are dealing in sanitizers, surgical masks, hand sanitizers and other medicines will be under the scanner by the teams.

"Directed the officers to immediately depute teams to markets of Delhi to check overcharging of prices beyond MRP by chemists, dealers, retailers etc.who are found selling face masks, surgical masks, hand sanitizers, other medicines used for control and prevention of coronavirus,'' Hussain said in a tweet.

''Also directed senior officers that at no cost, the chemists, retailers, traders etc.should be allowed to take undue advantage of the health crisis due to the pandemic nature of the Coronavirus. Also directed that the violators and defaulters must be immediately proceeded against,'' he added.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has directed all DMs, SDMs and municipal commissioners to set up portable washbasins with automatic soap dispensers in public spaces that have not yet been shut.

The most foolproof way to stop Coronavirus from spreading is frequent washing of hands with soap, he said.
