Cop killing in East Midnapore: 1 accused arrested

Kolkata, Jan 9 (IBNS) Police on Saturday nabbed a person, who has been identified as Amar Soni, from Jaynagar area in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal in connection with the killing of a cop in East Midnapore district, reports said.

Policeman Nabakumar Hait was shot dead on Thursday during night-patrolling on NH-41 near Kapaseria village under Mahishadal Police Station area in West Bengal's East Midnapore district.

The incident happened when two miscreants fired bullets and threw bombs indiscriminately aiming at the police force.

Soni will be produced to the court on Sunday.
