Allahabad High Court grants bail to Swami Chinmayanand
Lucknow/IBNS: The Allahabad High Court on Monday granted bail to ex-Bharatiya Janata Party leader Swami Chinmayanand in connection with the alleged rape fo a law student.
The former BJP leader was arrested last year after the student had accused him of sexual harassment and blackmail.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is investigating the case involving Swami.
Swami, who was expelled from the party following his arrest, is facing charges under Sections 376C (sexual intercourse by a person or persons taking advantage of their official position), 354 D (stalking), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The SIR submitted the chargesheet in the cast last year on Nov 6.
