2 civilians killed in J&K

Srinagar, Feb 14 (IBNS) At least two civilians, including a woman was killed, in alleged firing by security forces in Kakapora area of Pulwama on Sunday.

Seven others were injured in the incident which occurred amid protests over the killing of a militant by Indian security forces in an encounter.

Locals told IBNS on phone that an encounter broke out in the Astan Mohalla of Pulwama after security forces received inputs on the presence of some militants in  the area early in a day.

Locals added that when some youths shouted slogans near the encounter site security forces swiftly came into action and lobbed teargas shells and direct bullets towards the protesters.

A senior police officer told IBNS that during clashes two civilians, including a women, was killed while 7 others were injured in a firing
incident.

Tension gripped Pulwama district after news of the death of two civilians spread, said the officer.

Meanwhile, Kashmir Police said that Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, who was identified as Adil Ahmad, was killed in the encounter with
forces in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
