In West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is mounting a strong challenge to end the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress. In Assam, the BJP is aiming to secure a third consecutive term, while in Puducherry, the party is eyeing a return to power as part of a coalition.

Kerala is witnessing a direct contest between the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF). Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, the DMK faces a multi-cornered fight against the AIADMK-BJP alliance, along with a fresh challenge from actor-turned-politician Vijay’s newly launched party, TVK.

BJP stronghold Suvendu Adhikari has won Mamata Banerjee's stronghold Bhabanipur seat by 15,114 votes.

Modi says Bengal has chosen development

Calling the verdict a “new sunrise” on the sacred land of Bengal, PM Narendra Modi said the BJP’s success belonged entirely to the people of the state.

“I dedicate the credit for the Bharatiya Janata Party’s success in Bengal to the people of Bengal,” he added.

The victory marks one of the BJP’s most significant political breakthroughs in eastern India, ending years of TMC dominance and reshaping the national political landscape.

The entire world has been adversely affected by the crisis in West Asia. However, India is facing this crisis with full confidence.

Ratna Debnath, the mother of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital doctor who was raped and killed in 2024, is currently leading from Panihati seat in West Bengal. 

As per ECI data, she is leading by 56167 votes.

Trinamool Congress candidate Tirthankar Ghosh was intially leading but currently he is trailing from the seat, which was drawing a lot of attention since Debnath is contesting from it.

The death of the young doctor had triggered a massive protest across the state.

Mamata Banerjee claims TMC would win even amid BJP wave in Bengal

TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee said in a video message, “I urge all our party agents not to leave the counting centres. This appears to be a strategy by the BJP to project an early lead. Counting at nearly 100 centres has been stalled after two to three rounds.

"BJP workers, with the backing of central forces, are attacking our party offices. We are still leading in around 70 seats, the trends of which have not yet been disclosed. Misinformation is being spread."

"The Election Commission of India, supported by central forces, seems to be part of this process. I appeal to all our workers to remain calm and optimistic—the trends will turn in the final rounds of counting. Wait and watch,” she added.

 

Tamil Nadu result: MK Stalin is trailing in Kolathur

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin is currently trailing in Kolathur seat, the constituency which he has held since 2011.

The DMK president has represented the constituency since 2011 and secured a massive victory there in 2021 by defeating AIADMK’s Aadhi Rajaram with a margin of 70,384 votes.
