Kolkata, Jan 3 (IBNS): Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay was arrested by federal investigating agency CBI on Tuesday in the Rose Valley chit fund scam, triggering an angry outburst from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who slammed the Centre for following a politics of vendetta even as the BJP said that probe agencies would take its own actions against offenders.

In last four days, two Lok Sabha MPs of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Tapas Pal, were arrested by the CBI in connection with its ongoing probe into multi-crore Rose Valley scam.

Sudip Bandyopadhyay was arrested by the CBI on Tuesday after he went to the probe agency office following their repeated summons.

Mamata Banerjee said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to silence his opponents with fear tactics.

"Modi is dangabaaz [instigator of riots]. He tries to silence his opponents with fear tactics," she told media after her party MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay was arrested.

Hitting out at the PM and BJP supremo Amit Shah, Banerjee said: "Why should Narendra Modi and Amit Shah not be arrested?"

Alleging that the chit funds mushroomed during the tenure of the former  Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) government in West Bengal, Banerjee demanded the arrest of CPI-M leader Sujan Chakraborty and BJP MP Babul Supriyo too.

"Chit funds mushroomed under CPI(M). Babul Supriyo and Sujan Chakraborty must be arrested next," Banerjee said.

The Chief Minister said Sudip Bandyopadhyay was arrested 'under pressure' from the PMO.

She announced that her party will launch protests and dharnas against the arrests on Wednesday.

She also said there are chit funds in which BJP and Akali leaders are involved and action against those should be taken.

"Pearl company is within 200-500m of the Finance Ministry HQ in Del. BJP & Akali Dal involved in the Rs 50000 Cr chit fund: Mamata Banerjee," tweeted the TMC twitter handle

Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that BJP-ruled Central government never interfered into any probe of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

During a press conference here in Kolkata on Tuesday, Goyal said, "Investigation agencies will take actions against them, who have committed crime or involved in corruption."

"Neither BJP nor the Central government interferes in CBI and ED's investigations," he added.
