PM Modi embarks on historic three-nation visit to Jordan, Ethiopia, and Oman

New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun a three-nation diplomatic tour to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, and the Sultanate of Oman — countries with which India shares both historical ties and robust contemporary relations.

Jordan:

Modi’s visit to Jordan, on the invitation of King Abdullah II, commemorates 75 years of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan.

During his stay in Amman, the Prime Minister will hold detailed discussions with King Abdullah II, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. He will also engage with the Indian community in Jordan, acknowledging their contributions to India–Jordan relations.

Ethiopia:

At the invitation of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, Modi will visit Ethiopia, which hosts the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa. India welcomed the African Union as a permanent G20 member in 2023 during its G20 Presidency.

Modi will meet with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the Indian diaspora in Ethiopia, and address the Joint Session of Parliament, highlighting India’s journey as the “Mother of Democracy” and emphasizing the India–Ethiopia partnership in the Global South.

Oman:

The final leg of the visit is to the Sultanate of Oman, marking 70 years of diplomatic ties. In Muscat, Modi will meet His Majesty the Sultan of Oman to further strengthen strategic, commercial, and economic ties.

He will also address the Indian diaspora in Oman, recognizing their role in enhancing bilateral relations.
