Modi has vision to see development of North East: Ram Kripal Yadav
New Delhi, Jan 29 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to see the development of North East and it is on his top priority, said union minister of state for drinking water and sanitation Ram Kripal Yadav while interacting with the Journalist here in Agartala.
He said that it is the dream of the Prime Minister to improve the livelihood of the people of North East.
Yadav said that the Union ministers are visiting all the North Eastern states as part of the initiative and direction of the Prime Minister of India as he aspires to see all round development of North Eastern states.
He also added that Union ministers are touring all the states of North East on regular basis and trying to get fast hand information on different Problammes in the region and are also trying to give solution to the Problammes.
He said that Prime Minister desires to see the country free of Open Defecation by 2019 under the Swatch Bharat Mission launched by him in 2014.
He also said that seeing the progress and the assurance given by Tripura and Manipur both the states can end open defecation by 2017.
The Minister who was on a two day visit to Tripura said that Manipur and Tripura is doing commendable job in terms of Drinking water and sanitation in their respective states.
He also said Tripura has seen rapid development in the last few years. He added that the Literacy rate which Tripura has achieved is really commendable and added that Development is bound to happen here with such high literacy rate.
He also said that North East has huge potential to develop as Tourist attraction with the abundance of Natural resources in the region. He suggested and appealed to respective state governments of North East to harness the rich natural resource as Tourist attraction which can lead to employment generation and eradication of poverty. He also said that there is huge potentiality for Organic farming in the North Eastern states.
In another Question the minister said that Central Assistance has been enhanced by 10% under the drinking water and Sanitation schemes from 32% to 42%. He also added that apart from 10% increase in Central Assistance all the state Government will get a good share from the 40,000 corer which is given directly to the Panchayats all over India. He said that there is no question of reduction of fund under central assistance to any of the states.
