Unfortunately there is no choice, tweets Elon Musk as he defends layoff

Tesla Inc boss Elon Musk on Saturday defended the move of removing about half of Twitter's workforce by saying that he had 'no choice' as the company was losing more than $4m a day.

Musk tweeted: "Regarding Twitter’s reduction in force, unfortunately there is no choice when the company is losing over $4M/day."

"Everyone exited was offered 3 months of severance, which is 50% more than legally required," he said.

Yoel Roth, Twitter's head of safety and integrity,  referred to the layoff issue and tweeted: "Yesterday’s reduction in force affected approximately 15% of our Trust & Safety organization (as opposed to approximately 50% cuts company-wide), with our front-line moderation staff experiencing the least impact."

Musk recently took over Twitter in a $44bn.

In an internal email, the social media company earlier said the cuts are "an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path", reports BBC.The firm added that its offices would be temporarily closed and badge access would be suspended, the British media reported.
