Putin imposes martial law in annexed regions of Ukraine

| @indiablooms | Oct 20, 2022, at 02:14 am

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared martial law on Wednesday in the four regions Russia has annexed and given additional emergency powers to the heads of the Russian regions, AFP reported.

The report said that Putin didn't mention the steps that would be taken but may involve restrictions on travel and public gatherings, tighter censorship, and broader authority for law enforcement agencies.

He also did not elaborate on the extra powers that would be given to the heads of the Russian agencies under his decree.

Putin also ordered the formation of a Coordination Committee to increase interaction between various government agencies in connection with Russia's 'special military operations' in Ukraine, said the report.
