MH 370: Malaysia hopeful after new lead
Kuala Lumpur, Apr 7 (IBNS) Malaysian Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein on Monday said he feels that the detection of pulse signals in the southern Indian Ocean might lead to 'positive development' in the search for the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH370 aircraft which went missing last month.
"In line with Malaysia's consistent stand on verifying and corroborating evidence from day one of the search operation, I would strongly urge all parties concerned to treat this information responsibly and give time for the authorities to conduct further verification," Hussein was quoted as saying by Bernama news agency.
In a significant development, an Australian ship, which is searching for the missing flight, has heard signals consistent with those from a flight's black boxes, reports said.
Retired Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston, who is heading Australia’s Joint Agency Coordination Centre (JACC), reportedly called the latest developments as the most promising lead so far.
The Malaysia Airlines flight, which was carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew and went missing since Mar 8.
