Tokyo, Apr 21 (IBNS) Fastest passenger train in the world has broken its own speed record by travelling at 603 kmph at a test run.

The previous record that it held was a speed of 581 kmph which it had set in 2003.

The Maglev Test Line is predicted to provide a passenger transport facility that would allow commoners to reach Osaka from Tokyo in just over an hour.

The current minimum time taken  by bullet train is nearly three hours.

Japan's high-speed rail services are among the most advanced in the world, as hundreds of trains travel each day with almost zero delay time,

Maglev trains actually hover over the rail lines as they travel. The full form of maglev is 'Magnetic elevation'.

The line is expected to start operations by late 2020.
