Italy: Earthquake kills 38

Rome, Aug 24 (IBNS): At least 38 were killed as an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter Scale hit central Italy on Wednesday, local media reports said.

Ten died in the Marche villages of Arquata and Pescara del Tronto and 28 lives were lost in the Lazio villages of Accumoli and Amatrice, ANSA reported.

As per the USGS website, the epicentre of the quake was located

South-East of Norcia at latitude  42.714 degrees north and longitude 13.172 degrees east.

The quake was felt at 1:36 UTC.

The quake hit at a depth of 10km (six miles), USGS website said.
