Jerusalem, May 16 (IBNS): In a significant move, Guatemala has officially moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in Israel.

It has become the second nation after the US to move its embassy to the city.

The inauguration was presided over by Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Guatemalan President Jimmy Morales.

Jimmy Morales was quoted as saying by Haaretz that his country is bringing a message of "love, peace and fraternity" to Israel.

The embassy is located in Jerusalem’s southern Malkha neighborhood.

"This is an important moment for the future of our peoples," Morales was quoted as saying Haaretz.

US opened its embassy in Gaza on Monday.

Senior White House advisers Ivanka Trump, Donald Trump's daughter, and her husband Jared Kushner, had arrived in Jerusalem for the opening of the embassy.

US President Donald Trump had tweeted: "Big day for Israel. Congratulations!."

Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu had appreciated and thanked Trump over the opening of the embassy.

He tweeted: "Thank you, President Trump, for having the courage to keep your promises. Thank you, President Trump for making the alliance between Israel and the United States stronger than ever @realDonaldTrump."
