Funeral ceremony of Ex-Israel President Shimon Peres to be held on Friday

New Delhi, Set 28 (IBNS): The funeral ceremony for former President of Israel Shimon Peres will take place on Friday on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.

From Thursday, the former President’s coffin will be lying in state at the Knesset (Israeli Parliament) for the public to pay their respects.

The Embassy of Israel in New Delhi will open a condolence book on Thursday afternoon, Friday and next week on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Israeli flag at the Embassy has been lowered to half-mast.

Among the world leaders expected to attend the funeral are US President Barack Obama, President and Secretary Hillary Clinton , Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Prince Charles, French President Francois Hollande and others.

Mourning the death of Shimon Peres, Ambassador of Israel in India, Daniel Carmon, stated: “We are all mourning the death of our ninth President, Shimon Peres. One of the founding fathers of the Nation, a leader, a man of vision, of Peace, who dedicated his life to the wellbeing, security and prosperity of Israel and its people.”
