Earthquake hits China, 8 killed
Beijing, May 11 (IBNS): A 5.5 earthquake hit Taxkorgan County in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Thursday, killing at least 8 people,media reports said.
The quake jolteed the nation 5:58 a.m.
"The epicenter, with a depth of about 8.0 km, was monitored at 37.58 degrees north latitude and 75.25 degrees east longitude in the southeast part of the Pamir Plateau," Xinhua reported.
Rescue operation is currently underway.
The injured people were rushed to hospital for treatment.
