Death toll in Aceh earthquake rises; more feared trapped

Jakarta, Dec 7 (IBNS): Death toll in the Wednesday morning earthquake in Aceh, Indonesia, has risen to 54,including children, according to media reports.

The 6.5 magnitude earthquake struck just off the north-east coast of Sumatra island, where dozens of buildings have collapsed and many people are feared trapped under rubble, reported the BBC.

The local Met agency, however, said that there's no reason to fear a tsunami.

Aceh was majorly hit by the 2004 tsunami, which killed around 120,000 people.
