Canada invites 4,000 skilled workers to apply for permanent residence through express entry

Ottawa: Canada has invited 4,000 skilled workers to apply for permanent residence through its latest Express Entry draw, as the federal government continues efforts to address labour shortages and support economic growth through immigration.

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), the invitations were issued under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) category, targeting candidates with recent Canadian work experience.

Applicants required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 518 to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

The draw is part of Canada's broader immigration strategy aimed at attracting skilled workers who can contribute to key sectors of the economy and help meet workforce demands across the country.

Candidates selected through the CEC stream are typically individuals who have already gained work experience in Canada, making them well-positioned to integrate into the labour market and local communities.

The latest round follows a series of Express Entry draws conducted this year as Canada seeks to maintain high immigration levels under its multi-year immigration plan.

The federal government has repeatedly emphasized the role of immigration in supporting economic development, addressing demographic challenges, and filling critical labour gaps.

Express Entry is Canada's flagship system for managing applications for permanent residence under several economic immigration programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class.

Successful applicants who receive an invitation have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence.

Canada plans to continue regular Express Entry draws throughout 2026, with immigration remaining a key pillar of the country's economic and labour market strategy.
