Berlin attack: Police hunt for Tunisian suspect

Berlin, Dec 22 (IBNS): Security officials have launched a manhunt for a 24-year-old Tunisia native in connection with a militant attack in Germany's Berlin city this week, media reports said.

Anis Amri is being sought in Monday's truck attack, which left 12 people dead and 48 injured at Breitsheidplatz, CNN reported quoting a wanted notice issued on Wednesday by the German federal prosecutor's office.

A reward of up to 100,000 euros have been issued for informnation on him.

Militant group ISIS has claimed responsibility for the lorry attack on a Christmas market in Berlin which left at least 12 people dead, media reports said on Wednesday.

"The Islamic State’s (IS) ‘Amaq News Agency reported that the December 19, 2016 vehicular attack on a Christmas Market in Berlin, Germany was carried out by 'a solder of the Islamic State'," a SITE Intel Group report stated.

According to media reports, Monday night, a man ploughed a truck through a Christmas market in the heart of the German capital, killing 12.
