Not a rivalry anymore: Suryakumar Yadav after widening head-to-head record against Pakistan

Dubai/IBNS: India's T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav rubbed salt on Pakistan's wound further refusing to acknowledge the contest as a "rivalry" decimating the arch-rival for the second time in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 at ease on Sunday.

"I think the question on rivalry should not be asked anymore...," Suryakumar said.

When the journalist asked about the standard of cricket, the skipper added, "Standard and rivalry mean the same almost... According to me, if the head-to-head record is 7-7 or 8-7 after playing 15-20 matches, then it can be called good cricket or rivalry. I don't know the exact stat but 13-0, 10-1 do not indicate a rivalry."

The six-wicket win on Sunday further widened the gap of head-to-head record between India and Pakistan.

The head-to-head record now stands at 11-3 in favour of India in the shortest format of the game.

The Indian cricketers refused to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts similar to what they had done in the group stage as the men-in-blue played against their arch-rival in the shadow of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir.

India (174-4) chased down Pakistan's 172-run target at ease in 18.5 overs with six wickets in hands.

Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill hit 105 for the opening wicket bolstering India's run-chase.

While Abhishek slammed 74 off 39 balls (6 fours and 5 sixes), Gill slammed 47 off just 28 balls.

Tilak Varma remained unbeaten at 30 off 19 balls (2 fours and 2 sixes) to finish India's task at the back-end along with Hardik Pandya, who scored 7 not out.
