The cricket world has once again witnessed the chemistry between the two most successful Indian skippers, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli after the former handed over the charge of Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings to allrounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Sharing an old picture where the two are seen hugging each other, Kohli wrote a heart touching message which reads, "Legendary captaincy tenure in yellow skip. A chapter fans will never forget. Respect always."

Taking all by surprise, Dhoni on Thursday handed over the captaincy of IPL's second most successful team CSK to his younger mate Jadeja, ending a glorious era in T20 cricket.

CSK have issued a statement which reads, "MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team.

"Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond."

Dhoni has been leading the franchise as the regular captain since the inaugural season of IPL in 2008.

Under Dhoni's leadership, CSK have won IPL four times including the last edition held in 2021.
