LSG captain Rishabh Pant fined for slow over-rate in RCB match

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 70 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Tuesday.

As it was his team’s third offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Pant was fined INR 30 Lakh.

The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 12 Lakh or 50 per cent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser.

In a fitting climax to the league stage of the IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bengaluru stormed into Qualifier 1 with a six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium on Monday.

Skipper Jitesh Sharma produced a breathtaking knock of 85* off just 33 balls, a Player of the Match effort, to lead RCB to the third-highest successful run chase in IPL history.

With this triumph, RCB not only booked a date with Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1 but also etched their name in the record books by becoming the first team ever to win all seven away matches in a single IPL season.
