Udta Punjab clocks in Rs 10.05 cr on day one
Mumbai, June 18 (IBNS) The most awaited movie of 2016, Udta Punjab, which released on June 17, has already clocked in a whopping 10.05 crores, the makers said.
"If this is what the first day collection looks like then the weekend collection figures of the movie is something we must all lookout for!" they said in a media release.
Udta Punjab is an Abhishek Chaubey movie starring Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh.
Udta Punjab has released in theatres post its legal battle with the Censor Board and the film has been flying high ever since its release.
Social media was abuzz with B-Town and audience raving about 'Udta Punjab' and the brilliant performances delivered by the star cast.
Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjh went to a suburban theatre to take first hand reactions.
The trio also interacted with fans outside the theatre and took feedback on the film personally from them.
Udta Punjab is a film based on the lives of 4 individuals played by Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh who are impacted by the drug abuse faced in the connecting state of Punjab.
The movie, which created a controversy after the censor board directed several cuts, released under the banner of Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Phanton Films, with only one cut following a court verdict that brought reprieve to the makers.
