Mumbai, Apr 26 (IBNS): Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor will play ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal in the latter's namesake biopic.

Directed by Amol Gupte, Saina, the biopic, is produced by Bhushan Kumar.

Confirming the reports, the actress tweeted, "SAINA NEHWAL - The former World no 1 badminton player. An Indian girl. An inspiration to millions. A youth icon in the truest sense. @NSaina."

Sharaddha has also said that she is honoured to portray the former world number one player on screen.

"Her journey to the top has been fascinating & I am honored to be given this opportunity to play her in my next film 'SAINA'," she tweeted.

According to the ABCD 2 actress, Saina is going to be the most challenging role for her thus far.

"The preparation for this film is going to be very, very challenging. It's probably going to be my most difficult film till date," her tweet read.

The actress has also urged the support of her fans.

"Wish me luck everyone ," one of her tweets read.

Biopics are getting common these days in Bollywood.

While it started with Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, a biopic on the legendary Indian athlete Milkha Singh, biopics have also been made on pugilist MC Mary Kom and cricketers Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Muhammad Azharuddin.
