Should respect space that Irrfan and his family requested for: Deepika Padukone

Mumbai, Mar 13 (IBNS): Sharing solidarity with ailing actor Irrfan Khan, Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone has said all should respect the space the actor and his family requested for at this crisis moment in their lives.

Speaking on the sidelines of an award ceremony, Padukone said: "Honestly I do not know where he is and what it has happened. I think there are times when people just need to be left alone for sometime and figure their lives out."

"And I think we should respect that space that they have all requested for. But Like we said, hope for the best and say a little prayer" she added.

Padukone, who has shared screen space with Irrfan in Piku, recounted her experiences with the actor.

She said: "He is someone whom I absolutely love not just as an actor but someone as a person. I have had one of my special experiences as an actor with him. Piku will be my all time favourite and special film and he had a large part to play in that."

Earlier this month, Irrfan had himself informed his fans and followers on social media that he is suffering from a rare disease.

On Twitter, he wrote, "Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life shaking you up. The last 15 days, my life has been a suspense story," the Piku star wrote in a statement posted on Twitter.

"Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease,"

"I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don't speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week - 10 days, when further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me" he added.

Speculations were also created about his admission to Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital. The speculations were later dismissed by the hospital only.

Apart from Piku, Irrfan entertained fans with his performance in movies like Haider, Paan Singh Tomar,  Jurassic World and Inferno.
