ReelLife Film Festival 2017 ends offering hope for greenhorns

Kolkata, Oct 28 (IBNS) “ReelLife Film Festival 2017”, a festival of short films and documentaries organised by ‘Creazione Production’, a newly launched group of film lovers and production house offering a platform to the promising greenhorns, concluded recently here on Oct 25 with the event witnessing enthusiastic participation by the young filmmakers.

The festival was held at the  BITM (Birla Industrial & Technological Museum, Kolkata).

While director of BITM, Sk. Emdadul Islam and the Festival Director and CEO of Creazione Production  Subhojit Ghosh in the presence of the technical officer of BITM  Gautam Seal opened the event, the closing ceremony when awards were given were attended by some well known names of the industry.  Actor Chandan Sen was the special guest of “ReelLife Film Festival 2017” on the closing day.

One the day of the opening ,this production house launched their official website.

The competitive festival was divided into two sections- 1. Fiction and 2. Non-Fiction. Two categories ‘Student’ and ‘Professional’ were kept. As a first time festival organizer on the behalf of Creazione Production, the Founder Member and Festival Director  Subhojit Ghosh said, “We have witnessed an enormous number of film-enthusiasts who have submitted their films very eagerly for ReelLife Film Festival 2017”.

“It is also a proud moment for us to showcase two films of Bangladesh in the competitive platform of ReelLife.” said the Festival Director. Total 23 films were screened at the event.

Film editor  Snehasis Ganguly and the Editing faculty head of SRFTI (Kolkata)  Shyamal Kumar Karmakar helped in selecting the films.   

After a tight competition both in Student and Professional Category, the best of the best were awarded. In the Student category Non Fiction the director duo Sutrishna Paswan and Joyshree Biswas  took away the “Best Documentary” award for their Documentary film “Leap: The Journey Towards Motion”.

In Student Fiction Category Shreejit Guha and his team packed two awards for “Best Film” and “Best Editing” for their film “Charvaka”. With the film “Charvaka”, Sharmistha Chakrabartty won the award for “Best Editing”and Sandipan Das was awarded with “Best Story” for the film “Amader Kotha”.  Arindam Ray’s film “Sakhi” got awarded with “Best Cinematography” and Cinematographer’s name was Souradeepta Chowdhury.

In the Professional Category the fight was much tougher and the result was also very surprising. The film “The Caged Bird”, which was screened at “International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala 2017”, won three awards. Arijit Kundu, the Director of this film was awarded with “Best Film” honour.

Ripon Hossain achieved “Best Cinematography” and Aritra Ganguly secured the “Best Editing” awards for this film. Krishanu Chanda’s film “Shashan Theke Shuru” got the award for “Best Story” and the award winner was Tanmay Mukherjee, the writer of the film. “Roadside Scientist” by Diganta Dey was acclaimed with “Best Documentary Film” in Professional Non Fiction Category and will be screened on “Cardiff International Film Festival 2017”.

Creazione Production had approached people to support greener planet with “ReelLife Film Festival 2017”. It announced their next project on “Arts, Crafts & Photography” event by the start of 2018.
