Mumbai/IBNS: Protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, amid the violent agitations across the nation, actor-director-singer Farhan Akhtar on Thursday said raising a voice is a democratic right of the Opposition.

Farhan said, "Raising voice is a democratic right of the Opposition. I see a certain amount of discrimination in the Act. As a citizen of the country and being born and grown up in the country, it is important for me to raise my voice."

When asked about how the CAA will hamper the Indian Muslims, the actor said, "There is such a possibility."

Apart from Farhan, several other actors including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Alia Bhatt, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, Bhumi Pednekar had spoken against the Delhi police's crackdown on Jamia Millia University students who were protesting against the CAA on last Sunday evening.

The CAA will grant citizenship to Hindu, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Jain, Christian but not Muslim refugees who came to India before 2015.
