Proud of my friend Mary Kom: Priyanka Chopra on CWG medal victory

Mumbai, Apr 14 (IBNS): Actress Priyanka Chopra on Saturday wished boxer and her friend MC Mary Kom for winning the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Priyanka said Kom's victory made her feel proud.

"I’m sooooo proud of my friend and India’s pride @MangteC you are and always will be my champion! Congratulations!! Yay!," Priyanka tweeted.

Maintaining her strong form in the 48 kg Boxing event of the Commonwealth Games, Indian boxer MC Mary Kom won a gold medal on Saturday.

This was India's 18th gold medal in the event.

She defeated Kristina O Hara to clinch gold.

Priyanka had played the character of Mary in a movie based on the boxer's life.

The movie released in 2014.
