'Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat' unveils powerful first song celebrating freedom and sacrifice
Kolkata/IBNS: The makers of the much-awaited Bengali film Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat have unveiled the film's first song Jago Desh, paying tribute to the spirit of freedom, courage and sacrifice.
The song captures the extraordinary legacy of legendary revolutionary Ananta Singh, portrayed by superstar Jeet, and offers audiences an emotionally charged glimpse into one of the most anticipated cinematic experiences of the year.
Powerfully blending history with emotion, the anthem celebrates the unwavering ideals of a man remembered by many as a fearless revolutionary while remaining one of the most intriguing figures in India's freedom movement.
Through evocative visuals and stirring music, the song sets the emotional tone for the film, building excitement ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on 14th August.
The music has been composed and produced by acclaimed composer Shantanu Moitra, while the lyrics beautifully weave together the timeless words of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay with contemporary verses by Barish.
The anthem is led by the voice of Rupankar Bagchi, joined by Soumyadipta Mukherjee, Soumyabrata Banerjee, Suphal Das, Satwick Bhattacharjee, Debojyoti Mukherjee, Ayon Dhar, Aadrita Bose, Sristita Singha, Swarnali Majumder, Riyanki Ghosh, and George Joseph, creating a stirring choral experience that echoes the spirit of unity and patriotism.
The musical arrangement, programming and sound design have been crafted by George Joseph, with vocals by Rupankar Bagchi recorded by Kittu Myakal. The song was dubbed at Sound Ideaz Studio, Mumbai, while the chorus was recorded by Goutam Basu at Audio Lake Studios, Kolkata. The track has been mixed and mastered by Hopun Saikia, ensuring a rich and immersive sonic experience.
Directed by Pathikrrit Basu and produced by Nandy Movies and Jeetz Filmworks, Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat is inspired by the remarkable life of Ananta Singh—a man celebrated by some as a revolutionary and remembered by others as an outlaw.
Shantanu Moitra said: "Jeet approached me first for the project, Generally I like historical subjects, I have done Sardar Udham, Madras cafe before, all these films have a historical backdrop.
"I love the subject, also working for the first time with Jeet. I love his work. This song is about the Revolution. The truth is I have asked Pathikrrit why he wanted to do the film, he wanted to reveal the contribution of 'Anantya Singh' to the nation.
"This song is very special and unique as it starts with a chorus, Rupankar sung it beautifully. We introduced him from the antara of the song. Beautifully written by Barish, the words of the legendary Ananta Singh have been communicated properly. The song is
filled with hot-bloodedness, fiercely passionate and rebellious."
Barish added: When we think of patriotic songs, Bengalis still instinctively recall timeless classics like Vande Mataram and Utho Go Bharat Lakshmi. Needless to say, adding a new song to that revered list is no easy feat. What made it even more challenging was the fact that this song accompanies Superstar Jeet, portraying the legendary revolutionary Ananta Singh, as he embarks on his journey in India's freedom struggle.
"Writing Jago Desh was therefore a tremendous challenge for me. However, I owe the biggest credit for making this possible to Shantanu da. He constantly inspired me, encouraged me, and gave me the confidence to push my creative boundaries. Pathikrrit da also explained the entire sequence so beautifully that I never felt stuck while writing the lyrics."
Rupankar Bagchi also added: "I am very excited about this song and also grateful to Shantanu Moitra. This is my fourth collaboration with him. It's not that we are connected personally, though I regard him as my brother not only as a music composer. Of course my working experience with him is outstanding.
"Beyond working we discuss different things and aspects of life. Barish has written the lyrics of the song efficiently. This song is treated very differently. The film is going to be different from the other films of Jeet."
Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat releases in cinemas on August 14.
