Kolkata/IBNS: The teaser of Bengali film superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee's Daktar Kaku was unveiled last week.

Apart from Prosenjit, the film features Riddhi Sen and Ena Saha in the lead.

The film revolves around a doctor and his son, Pushkin, who follow contrasting ideals in their professional lives, creating a conflict between their personal beliefs and responsibilities.

Riddhi Sen portrays Pushkin, whose different outlook from his father, Daktar Kaku, forms one of the central conflicts of the narrative.

Speaking of the film, Prosenjit said, "I have been inspired by Uttam Kumar and Soumitra Chattopadhyay for doing challenging characters like these. Daktar Kaku is such a character here that I thought that if I do this film, it will be remembered by people. We've done this work for a long time and its release was a bit delayed, though it's now time."

"I'm from a doctor's family, hence the Daktar Kaku's character which I'm playing, written by Pavel (director), he has a sense of ethics and values and I think there's still some people who try to maintain this and also try to forward it to the next generation. And just like Daktar Kaku, I personally have some principles which I follow," he added.

As the story progresses, the film explores whether the father-son duo can set aside their differences and stubborn beliefs to come together for the greater cause of saving lives. The teaser hints at several questions surrounding their relationship, professional ethics and the larger purpose of their work.

Riddhi Sen said, "I grew up watching my real life Daktar Kaku. When I heard the script, I got attached to the character from the very beginning. A film cannot be totally flawless, there always have been many flaws. But the experience that it gave me, not as an actor but as an audience, when I first heard the script, because I could relate to it."

Director Pavel added, "In my opinion, the work of any good film is not just about one story, it is about many stories. This story is about when people give importance to exam marks more than Karl Marx."

Director Pavel will also be seen playing a key character in the film, which is set to hit the theatres on September 18.
