Mumbai: Hair and Makeup expert Nilam Kenia, says that it’s important for people to understand that fitness needs to be part of their daily routine.

The hair and makeup stylist, who worked with actress Madhuri Dixit Nene in the show The Fame Game recently, says that fitness should become a natural part of our life.

“I think everyone should move their body in some way and sweat it out. It could be anything that you love to do - swimming, dancing, training, anything, but it’s important to do something. As we wake up, brush our teeth, have our breakfast, shower, taking care of our health and fitness should also be an important part of our routine,” she says, adding, “Fitness can be not very expensive if you plan well. Simple eating and running also could help.”

Complete health is a product of a healthy body and a healthy mind, says Nilam, adding, “Whenever I travel for work, I make sure I get access to the gym at least four days of the week. Also, on a regular basis, even during a busy schedule I make it a point to train at least 4 to 5 times a week.  I keep a check on my food intake and most of the time, I carry food from home.”

Nilam says that she doesn’t believe in following fancy diets to lose weight. “I just follow a simple balanced meal, nothing fancy or any fad diet. I feel good food is the fuel to our body and we must have everything but in a balanced proportion,” she says.

Talking about what she does on a daily basis to stay fit, Nilam says, “Two things that I follow is; one, I have a half a litre of warm water with turmeric and pepper powder every single day as soon as I wake up. And, before sleeping, I reflect upon my day to understand where I made mistakes and where there is scope for improvement. I also express gratitude for the day. Two things that I avoid are having conversations the moment they start getting negative. I am very selective in my participation that way. And I also mind my own business and don’t interfere in anyone else's matters.”
