Mumbai/IBNS: Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone, who was in the midst of multiple controversies this year, has been trolled for wearing an abaya in the tourism advertisement for Abu Dhabi.

Deepika shared the screen-space with her actor husband Ranveer Singh in the tourist advertisement which has been made under the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi.

In one clip of Experience Abu Dhabi campaign, Deepika is seen at the city's Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque covering her body except her face and hands.

Ranveer, who is also the brand ambassador of Abu Dhabi Tourism alongside Deepika, is seen in a black suit.

While some netizens accused Deepika of double standards citing her revealing attires in films, a few have pointed to the 39-year-old actress' past Vogue India's 'My Choice' campaign where she had endorsed women's freedom of choice.

Deepika's recent controversies

Deepika was embroiled in a row after she made an exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit reportedly after her condition for eight-hour shift was not accepted.

Vanga replaced Deepika with new Bollywood heartthrob Triptii Dimri at a cheaper remuneration.

In the most recent incident, Deepika, who has remained in the eye of the storm many times in her career, quit the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD but with a row.

The production house Vyjayanthi Movies on Thursday dropped a cryptic remark on "commitment" while announcing Deepika's exit from the film.
