Deepika criticises 'news story' on her

Mumbai, Sept 14 (IBNS): The Bollywood fraternity and netizens extended their support to actress Deepika Padukone on Sunday as she criticised a leading daily for apparently publishing a rather demeaning piece of news about her dressing.

Posting a screenshot of the offending photo, Deepika tweeted: "Supposedly India's 'LEADING' newspaper and this is 'NEWS'!!?? "

"YES!I am a Woman.I have breasts AND a cleavage! You got a problem!!??Dont talk about Woman's Empowerment when YOU don't know how to RESPECT Women!" she said.

Immediately after Deepika posted her remarks, she found support from netizens.

Actress Ileana D'Cruz tweeted :"@deepikapadukone absolutely disgusting that this is what they choose to write about! Good on you for speaking up against this bullshit! Xxx."

Actress Dia Mirza said: "Entertainment 'news' has rarely ever treated women with much respect. I'm surprised by the surprise. For once some1 decided not to let it go."

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar posted on his Twitter homepage: "That's eve teasing of different kind...@deepikapadukone that's the way women shd stand against & protest."

Director Karan Johar also expressed his opinion on the issued and tweeted : "Appalled....shocked and disgusted at the level of disrespect shown..Deepika or any women in the world cannot and should not stand for this!!"

Actress Priyanka Chopra said: "Well done @deepikapadukone ! Taken a stand for all of us. Xoxo."

Deepika's 'Finding Fanny' co-star Arjn Kapoor tweeted :"We have hit a new low today...forget complimenting a woman have the ability to respect a woman first"

Actress Huma Qureshi posted on her Twitter homepage: "More power to @deepikapadukone :-) dats how u shut them upppp."

Following Deepika's protest, the #IStandWithDeepikaPadukone started trending on Sunday.
