Bollywood directors who got back to TV

Mumbai, Feb 15 (IBNS) There was a time when movie stars and big-ticket directors wouldn't touch TV.

Now since the Indian Television has evolved in its scale in the phase decade that today renowned and established film directors are foraying into directing grandeur TV shows across networks.

It is interesting to see that Indian film directors are now looking at Tv too as a creative output and Tv Channels investing heavily in these shows in terms of scale and production. 

Tigmanshu Dhulia : National Award wining Director Tigmanshu Dhulia after his 2002 Star Bestseller. He will now again venture into Tv in a big way.  Apart from directing a short film for the newly announced Indo-Pak short film series by Zee TV, Tigmanshu has has also been commissioned to shoot a TV series for Rajya Sabha TV based on the real life incidents of historically important INA trials.

Anurag Basu : The talented Barfi film-maker, who started his directing career with the 1996 hit daily soap Tara, once said that making movies is easier than TV shows. He doesn't feel that films are superior to television and television is much more difficult than making films. He directed television serials, trying genres ranging from daily soaps to thrillers such as saturday Suspense , Ajeeb Dastaan. Basu also produced and directed a college drama Love story. Recently he directed tv series Miit based on the novel of Rabindranath Tagore.

Bejoy Nambiar : Director of cult films Shaitan and David, Bejoy Nambiar is fiercely possessive of his movies. He makes sure to leave his stamp on every aspect of the films he makes — be it direction, scripting or production. For him Mtv Rush was an attempt, they tried to do something different which was not really expected in the television format. Their approach for television episode was like approach for a  film. The show was highly accepted by the audience.

Ashutosh Gowarikar : Lagaan filmmaker and Actor Ashutosh Gowarikar has a old connect with the Television since he acted in quite a few TV series which also includes CID. He had recently ventured into television with his show Everest, which was about daughter's determination to gain her father's acceptance by climbing the highest mountain peak. the show was very well received by the audience and had become talk of the town.
