Becoming national crush is exciting to me: Priya Prakash Varrier
New Delhi, Feb 14 (IBNS): Priya Prakash Varrier, the new sensation on social media for her wink video, is considered as the national crush by millions of her new fans.
Priya seems to be enjoying the new tag of the "national crush".
In a recent interview with NDTV, Priya said: "Right now I am very happy and excited being the national crush. It is new to me that so many people are falling in love (for me) and all that."
When asked about whether she had expected such an appreciation for her expressions, Priya said: "No I never thought that this will become such a big hit or sensation. Everybody told me that it was good but I never expected that it will become this big."
A winking video of her on social media has made Malayalam actress Priya a national sensation overnight.
It all started last weekend after a video went viral on social media.
The sweet video, where a girl, who is none other than Priya, could be seen winking at a boy, exchanging unsaid love messages, started treading across all social media platforms in India.
But the young actress reveals the wink was not at all rehearsed.
"Actually my director wanted to capture something cute between me and my hero so he asked me whether I can do the eyebrow thing and wink at him (hero). So I told him that I could give it a try and that's how it worked out. It was spontaneous, we hadn't planned or practiced anything" she told the English news channel.
Her fan base on Instagram is growing at a rapid pace.
In fact, she is one of the few celebrities in the world who has got more than 600k followers in just 24 hours. She is currently having 2.9 millions followers on Instagram.
Her account has now been verified too by Instagram.
Priya said she is "little bit tensed" about the rising popularity "as it is now a big responsibility".
".....people have a lot of expectation from me so when the movie releases, I hope to keep up with their expectations and do my level best" the new sensation added.
Priya will be making her debut in south Indian movies with Oru Adaar Love.
