Sridhar Rangayan’s ‘Kuch Sapney Apne’ is gearing up for its World Premiere in London at the UK Asian Film Festival, the oldest South Asian film festival, on May 11th at Kiln Theater.

This will be followed by the Indian Premiere at KASHISH Pride Film Festival, South Asia’s biggest LGBTQ film festival on May 18 at Liberty Cinema.

This much anticipated feature, a sequel to the hugely popular film Evening Shadows (2018) which won 27 international awards and screened at 82 film festivals worldwide.

There has already been a buzz around it with the earlier announcement of Shaan having sung a song ‘Udaa Udaa, Udaa’ for the film.

Now we hear that Vishal Bhardwaj has composed a song ‘Din Jo Dhal Gaya’, and he along with Rekha Bhardwaj have sung the song.

The song penned by Saagar Gupta is paean to nostalgic memories of having been together and parted ways of the father and mother.

Excited by such wonderful support by both Vishal and Rekha, Rangayan said, "We have known and interacted with Rekha Bhardwaj as an ally of the community. When we asked her to sing, she readily agreed.

"But when we expressed our hope that Vishal Bhardwaj should compose the song and also sing the duet, we couldn’t believe it when he too agreed. It is such a huge boost to our independent film to have the support of such eminent people."

Lyricist Saagar Gupta, who has written lyrics for films 68 Pages and Evening Shadows said, "Writing a song that has the accomplished artist duo Rekha & Vishal Bhardwaj attached as singers and composer was itself a huge honour and responsibility.

"In one of his interviews, Gulzaar saab has acknowledged Vishal ji to have given him his second innings as lyricist, and here I am getting this fortunate opportunity to have my lyrics composed and sung by the Bhardwajs.

"The song situation was also a bit challenging as it is a song of separation but the characters are not longing for each other, but reminiscing about the bond that has been broken. With those music sittings with Vishal ji and Rekha ji, the whole process of the words written on paper becoming a treat to one’s ears and soul, will be a memory to be cherished lifelong."

The film is all set to premiere in London, and the festival director of the UK Asian Film Festival said, "The UK Asian Film Festival is delighted to include Kuch Sapney Apne in our program this year. We want to amplify the LGBTQ + themes in the film which are depicted in an original way, for our wide audience.

"We know that through art and cinema, we can prompt important discussions in the community that typically are difficult to approach. We are proud to be showcasing this film."

The film stars Mona Ambegaonkar, Shishir Sharma, Satvik Bhatia, Arpit Chaudhary and Yateen Karyekar along with Abhay Kulkarni, Veenah Nair and Yamini Singh.

The film is produced by Mohammed Shaik Hussain Ali and Pragyesh Singh alongwith Rangayan and Gupta.
