Workers, supporters of political parties demonstrate in Balochistan over alleged rigging charges in February 8 polls
Workers and supporters of various political parties are continuing their protest in Balochistan over alleged rigging charges in the February 8 general polls.
The demonstrators also called for a wheel jam strike across Balochistan on Sunday.
The sit-ins in Quetta, Dera Murad Jamali areas reached its eighth day on Friday.
Hundreds of workers and supporters of various parties, including a large number of women, are participating in the sit-in, reported Dawn News.
Leaders of the four-party alliance comprising Baloch, Pashtoon and Hazara parties have announced that a public meeting would be held in front of the office of the district returning officer, Quetta, on Saturday (today). Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Dr Malik Baloch, Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Abdul Khaliq Hazara and other leaders of different political parties will address the rally, the newspaper reported.
Central leaders of the alliance, including Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, secretary general of PkMAP, Haji Fida Hussain Dashti of the Hazara Democratic Party, Khalid Chengezi, Haji Abdul Samad Rind, Asmat Yari and Murtaza Sultan participated in the sit-in demonstration.
The leaders rejected the results of the polls.
“People from all walks of life and political workers have rejected the results of the elections not only in Balochistan but also in other parts of the country,” Ziaratwal was quoted as saying by Dawn News, adding that protest would continue until the “original elected members are announced”.

Pakistan voted to elect a new government on February 8.
However, the country plunged into a political crisis with none of the political outfits winning the majority needed to form the government.
Political parties are now trying to forge an alliance and secure 169 seats needed to secure a majority in the 336-member lower house of parliament.
