UK govt asks its citizens to leave Afghanistan amid 'worsening security situation'

London: The UK government has directed its citizens to leave Afghanistan amid ' worsening security situation' in the country.

"The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advise against all travel to Afghanistan. All British nationals in Afghanistan are advised to leave now by commercial means,' the British government said in a statement.

"If you are still in Afghanistan, you are advised to leave now by commercial means because of the worsening security situation," read the statement.

Afghanistan has been witnessing a spike in violence in recent times ever since the foreign forces started leaving the country.

The Taliban insurgents have captured several regions in Afghanistan.

The security forces and Taliban insurgents have been engaged in clashes in different corners of the country for several weeks now.
