Sheikh Hasina visits hospital to meet Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal

Dhaka, Mar 5 (IBNS): Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday visited a hospital in Dhaka to meet knife-attack victim writer Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal.

The writer is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The premier met Prof Iqbal around 12:45pm at the hospital and stayed there for 15 to 20 minutes, Maj Gen Munshi Md Mojibur Rahman, chief cardiac surgeon and consultant surgeon general of Bangladesh Armed Forces, told The Daily Star.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina talked to Prof Iqbal and also inquired about his health condition,” he told the newspaper.

“His (Prof Iqbal) condition is improving and he is doing well. He is getting proper sleep and is eating well,” he added.

Iqbal was attacked by a youth in Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) campus in Sylhet on Saturday.

Foyzur Rahman, a madrasa student, attacked the eminent writer with a knife.

He was arrested by security forces.
