Protests continue in Balochistan over alleged 'rigging' in Pakistan polls
Traffic movement was disrupted after protesters from different political outfits in Balochistan demonstrated against alleged rigging in the recently held general polls elections in Pakistan.
The election results witnessed a tight contest with none of the political parties winning majority.
An alliance of four parties representing Baloch, Pashtoon and Hazara nationalists gave a call for a shutter down strike in the province for Tuesday (today) and made it clear they would not abandon their protest until what they called changed results are not withdrawn, reported Dawn News.
The alliance, which is comprised of Balochist, National Party-Mengal, Pashtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), PTI and Hazara Democratic Party (HDP), has sought cooperation from other political outfits.
Demonstrating against alleged rigging, people observed a shutter down in Turbat region on Monday on the call of National Party.
All private banks and markets remained shut for the day.
NP President Dr Abdul Malik Baloch was quoted as saying by Dawn News: "People whom they have declared winners came to us and requested that we should not approach the courts."
Similar protests were also reported from Quetta, Chaman, Zhob and northern parts of Balochistan.
