Dadu:  The court of the second civil judge of Mehar on Tuesday sent an SHO and an ASI to jail after finding them guilty of staging an encounter in the jurisdiction of B-Section police station in Pakistan to arrest two suspects nearly two months back, media reports said on Friday.

The judge passed the order when he found that forensic report of the pistol police claimed to have recovered from the suspects, Mashooq Qambrani and Ghulam Qadir Qambrani, said that no bullet had been fired from the weapon while the FIR claimed the suspects were held after an exchange of fire with police, Dawn News reported.

The FIR was lodged by SHO Asgar Ali Shah as complainant in the case of the encounter and ASI Sikandar Jatoi was eyewitness of the shootout, the newspaper reported.

The judge hence ordered arrest of the two police officials, who had appeared in the court to submit final challan in the case, on the basis of the forensic report and sent them to jail.

During the hearing, the court declared it was a staged encounter and ordered release of the suspects Mashooq Qambrani and Ghulam Qadir Qambrani.

Later, the court nominated the SHO and the ASI as suspects in the same case in the light of Qambranis’ statements, Dawn News reported.

Both the officials were later released on bail granted by the first additional session judge for a surety in the sum of Rs20,000 each.
