Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on Prime Minister Imran Khan and five others for addressing a public meeting in violation of the election code of conduct, the Dawn reported on Tuesday.

ECP spokesman Haroon Shinwari was quoted as saying that the district monitoring officer of Swat imposed the penalty after the Prime Minister and some Ministers addressed a public gathering in Swat valley on March 16 despite warnings by the poll panel.

Earlier, on March 19, Lower Dir's District Monitoring Officer Hameedul Lah fined Khan Rs 50,000 for violating the code of conduct as he attended a public gathering in Dir as well.
