Pakistan: Policeman dies during attack on polio team in Balochistan

Quetta: A policeman, who was guarding a polio vaccination team in Pakistan, has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Balochistan region of the country, media reports said on Wednesday.

Pishin Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yasir, told Dawn.com that the assailants attacked the vaccination team in the Trat area of Pishin, killing the policeman who was deployed to guard the vaccinators.

He said the polio team workers remained unhurt.

The deceased policeman was identified as  constable Muhammad Hashim.

The body of the policeman was shifted to Quetta for medico-legal formalities.

Police later commenced a search operation in the area.
