Islamabad: Pakistani Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani administered the oath to federal ministers and ministers of state as they will form the cabinet of newly appointed Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Thirty-one federal ministers and three ministers of state took the oath, reports The Dawn.

Shehbaz has also appointed three advisers, taking the total strength of the cabinet to 37 members, the Pakistani newspaper reported.

Sharif tweeted: "Federal cabinet has been formed after thorough consultations with Mian Nawaz Sharif & coalition partners. It is my fervent hope that federal ministers, ministers of state & advisers will provide leadership & resolve the problems of the people. Work, work & only work is our motto."

There was a hurdle for the new government as Pakistan President Arif Alvi on Monday excused himself from administering oaths to new cabinet ministers, media reports said.

The ceremony was postponed following Alvi's decision.
