Pakistan: Inflation-hit population struggles amid gas outages during Sehr

Taxila: People are facing hardship amid the rising gas crisis in Pakistan's  Attock region during Ramadan as supply remains unavailable even during Sehr and Iftar timings.

Consumers are not left with any other option but to use wood and costly cylinders amid the crisis.

Residents of the area, who are already hit by inflation, have directed all regional heads to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to domestic and commercial consumers during Sehr and Iftar, reports Dawn News.

It has also been observed that while complaints of very low pressure or no supply of gas keep pouring in from every known locality of the city, the gas utility’s complaint service, 1199, appeared to be not accessible.

According to sources, gas load-shedding has been taking place since the winter months from 10pm till 6pm, despite arrival of the summer season, reports Dawn News.

Ghazala Perveen Hassan, a resident of Darul Islam colony, said that no gas was being supplied to her locality at Sehr and Iftar.

Mohammad Sabir, a resident of the city’s Shakardara neighbourhood in the eastern part of the city, told the newspaper that low gas pressure was not enough for him to cook food.

“Shutting down gas supply in the holy month of Ramazan is insanity. This is summer, not winter. The government is making our lives miserable,” Hira Kazmi, a resident of Awan Sharif told Dawn News.
