Quetta, Aug 16 (IBNS): At least four people were killed and 22 others were injured when a bomb blast rocked a mosque in Pakistan's Quetta area on Friday, media reports said.

According to initial investigation by the police, the explosion was carried out with an improvised explosive device (IED) which was planted inside the mosque, reported Geo News.

The injured people were rshed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Security officials cordoned off the area after the blast.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Shehbaz Sharif condoled the loss of lives in the incident and tweeted: "Strongly condemn the blast in Kuchlak Quetta. The purpose of such nefarious activities is to undermine peace in Pakistan. We have come this far in war against terrorism after exemplary sacrifices. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families."
